Shi Dan-Qiu is a second generation disciple of Grand Master Yang Shao-Hou (via the tutelage of Gu Li-Sheng) and has been practicing Tai Chi Chuan for more than 40 years.

Since his childhood Shi Dan-Qiu practiced Tan Tui, Chang Quan etc. Shi Huai-Ju (the father of Shi Dan-Qiu) was a faithful disciple of Master Gu Li-Sheng and had arranged for Shi Dan-Qiu to follow in his footsteps. In 1966, Shi Dan-Qiu started his Taijiquan training under Master Gu Li-Sheng.

Shi Dan-Qiu received an additional three years of instruction from Master Zhang Zhuo-Xing. In addition to Tai Chi Chuan, Shi Dan-Qiu has also specialized in the other two sister arts of Taijiquan, namely Xingyiquan (via Li Tian-Ji) and Baguazhang (via Jiang Rong-Qiao). Shi Dan-Qiu is also proficient in Qigong, the art of energy cultivation.
